Most of the negative consequences of aging we see, and hear so much about have to do with a continuous low-grade inflammation in our bodies. So, fighting inflammation means fighting aging, and that means staying strong and healthy for as long as possible. Nutrition plays a crucial role, but so does exercise. Resistance training, especially, has profound anti-inflammatory benefits.

As you train your muscles, the muscle cells secrete certain chemicals that are responsible for cell-to-cell communication. Part of what they do is downregulate the processes leading to inflammation. If inflammation is seen as fire, resistance training douses those flames. Just imagine how effective the combination of some anti-inflammatory food choices with regular resistance training will be.
